40 year old, Yasmin Eleby from
Houston, Texas celebrated a milestone birthday by marrying herself in front of
family and friends.
Eleby who has yet to find a life
partner, got married on the 3rd January in a candlelight ceremony at
the Houston Museum of African American Culture where she was given away by her
mum and 3 sisters who were also her bridesmaids alongside 7 other bridesmaids.
Eleby said, she promised herself,
once she hits 40 if she didn’t find someone who loved her as much as she did,
she would marry herself and that is exactly what she did.
Because you can’t legally marry
yourself in America, Eleby had a spiritual ceremony, conducted by 3 ministers
including one of her sister’s who is also a minister and helped her say her
vows.
The new bride loves to travel and
plans to visit, Cambodia, Laos, and the jazz festival in Dubai this year for
her honeymoon.
