Mr. Jimi Agbaje, Lagos Staate Peoples Democratic Party governorship
candidate, has been described as a serial tax evader by Governor
Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State. Speaking at the 8th Annual. Lagos
State Taxation Stakeholders’ Conference on Wednesday, Fashola said
anyone who avoids paying taxes in nothing but a cheat because taxes
power development.
According to Fashola, Agbaje’s company, JK Pharmacy, which is based
on Randle Road in Apapa, is owing ground rent (land use charges) for
2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012. “What do you call a man that does that? He is
a cheat; a tax evader. He has been using the roads built with taxes,
but he has held his own back. He paid in 2013 and 2014 because elections
were coming,” Fashola said. He advised the audience against voting for a
serial tax evader.
