Legendary Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has earned an eye-watering amount of money since stepping down as boss, it has been revealed.
Ferguson
adopted an ambassadorial role at the club after he stepped down as
United manager in 2013 and his salary has been officially declared in
club accounts, then quoted in various newspapers.
What
has been made clear by the accounts, lodged at Companies House, is that
Ferguson's role as 'global ambassador' at Old Trafford has proved to be
a highly lucrative one.
Ferguson
earned a staggering £2,165,000 from his work with the club, described
by many as 'consultancy services', between October 2013 and June 2014.
Effectively, his role comes in at around £100,000-a-day for his ambassadorial role, as confirmed by numerous papers.
Ferguson
may have ended his hugely successful 26-year managerial association
with United two years ago, but that has not stopped him from hauling in a
lot of money since.
To be fair to Ferguson, it is
realistic to imagine that his global influence on behalf of the club is
immense given his standing within the game.
The Scot is able to use his famous reputation and standing to positively influence the club's global dealings.
Cited
as an example of his fine work was the unveiling of Park Ji-Sung as an
ambassador of the club in October - a player he signed.
