A male teenager, Samuel Ogundeyi, was on Sunday, February 1 arrested at the private aviation terminal belonging to Execujet at the Murtula Muhammed Airport after he was caught hiding in the tyre compartment of an aircraft.
The teenager was discovered at about 12 noon, when pilots of the aircraft, marked M-MYNA, were carrying out a routine inspection on the aircraft before starting the engine.
According to the report, the commanding pilot detected the boy in the tyre compartment of the aircraft.
Two phones which Samuel Ogundeyi said belonged to him were discovered at the same compartment.
The
suspects according to the report claimed that he entered he gained
access to the plane hangar on the night of Saturday, January 3 with the
help of a person he called “brother”.
The boy who spoke
in Yoruba and Pidgin English confessed that he was able to make his way
across from the runway to the ExecuJet facility located in the
international wing of the airport when light went off.
The aircraft operated by Tag Aviation was said to have flown in a former Minister of Petroleum, Chief Dan Etete,
into the airport on Saturday night and parked at the private hangar,
where it was expected to take off on Sunday afternoon before the
incident happened.
