The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) in
Abuja on Tuesday finally reappointed Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi,
as the national team coach for the next two years.
Speaking to pressmen after signing the contract, the former Hawks of
Togo coach apologised to the country while also appealing for support
from Nigerians.
“To succeed we all need to come together as one because Nigeria
belongs to us, this is not Stephen Keshi’s team but our national team,”
Keshi said.
“It’s a fresh start. We need the support of our fans, media and every Nigerian to return the team to where we truly belong.”
In his own words, the NFF 1st Vice President, Seyi Akinwunmi said:
“Keshi need to start work now. We at the NFF have a vision to take
Nigeria football to the promise land.”
Meanwhile, Former Nigeria striker Amokachi has left his role with immediate effect and has been replaced by Salisu Yusuf.
Yusuf, who led Kano Pillars to the Nigerian Premier League title in
2008, has previously worked as assistant to former Nigeria coach Samson
Siasia at both senior and U-20 levels.
Unconfirmed reports have it that Keshi was the one who pushed for Amokachi’s exclusion from his technical crew.
